It was our first time visit since we have seen a lot do reviews and wanted to explore the food and taste. The service is fast and just being so famous have to take out time in waiting for it’s queue process is fast with lady in command ( handles well). Once you are seated then starts the service with your choice of thali and it’s running commentary of dishes pouring in till you say - Bas Abhi ! We had Gramin Thali and Normal Thali with extra basundi and kothimber wada extra totally a bill amount of 830/- but taste to relish and cherish- authentic Marathi style and tradition masala used in all dishes and ingredients. Our stomach were full and santusth after the meal - we wish to visit more and explore other dishes sometime soon. Hats off to Poona Guest House Team Keep the spirits rolling and high ….

The best place to have authentic Marathi food. Same taste and food as my grandma used to prepare. Amazing!

Coming to Pune and not having authentic Maharashtrian food would have been a crime. I asked my good friend Aniruddha to suggest me some places for Maharashtrian food and he told me to visit Poona guest house. Just by the name, I felt back in time when Pune was Poona and when times were simpler. He suggested a couple of places more but I was drawn to Poona gues house because of its name and the idea of visiting 'Poona'. Just from the entrance, I could see that I had imagined the place in its right element. Located in a typical old house setting with a spacious connected balcony overlooking the road, kandils (lantern) hanging on the roof and the simple yet very beautiful architecture of the place, it's truly a place of history. The food was delicious, very wholesome and easy on the stomach. I spoke to the owner who told me that the place is 80 years old and he is the 4th generation running the famous guest house. I was so excited to listen to him. I could imagine people 80 years ago visiting the same place as myself. The thali consisted of many items, unlimited to order and of lots of varieties from bhakri to Puran poli. (Papad, aloo bhaji, batata bhaji, Koshimbir, Rassa Bhaji, Masaale bath, Kothimbir wadi, Puri/Bhakri/Chapati and Chaas). The thali costed 220/- and my stomach was full to the brim. I even ordered kokam sharbat which was for 20/- and that was also very soulful to drink. Out of all items in the thali 2 were non vegan which I told them to take back and I asked them to not put ghee over any of the food items. Vegan food is easy to find. One just has to be able to explain to the chef/waiter. @poonaguesthouse #veganfood #vegan #plantbased #veganlife #veganrecipes #healthyfood #veganfoodshare #vegansofig #vegetarian #food #whatveganseat #govegan #veganism #foodporn #foodie #healthy #healthylifestyle #vegano #veganfoodie #veganfoodporn #instafood #vegansofinstagram #crueltyfree #glutenfree #veganlifestyle #veganeats #foodphotography #plantbaseddiet #plantbasedfood #bhfyp

Extremely sluggish SERVICE. These guys need to be pushed to serve you. And they act as if they are doing a favour to us by serving you. You cannot be always asking the waiters to serve you.

Worst dining experience. The restaurant is listed on District with 15% off. Before entering, I clearly asked if District payment was accepted. They said yes. I had a ₹250 District coupon. My bill was ₹590. After 15% it should have been around ₹501, and after the ₹250 coupon, I expected to pay roughly ₹250. At billing time, they suddenly refused District payment and said they only accept UPI or cash — in a very rude and arrogant tone. No apology. No explanation. I was forced to pay the full ₹590. This is completely misleading and unprofessional. It didn’t end there. There was a hair in my Jowar Bhakri. When I informed them, the response was careless. Later, when I asked for the second bhakri (which is part of their “2 bhakri” rule), the waiter rudely said I had already taken two — even though the first one was barely eaten due to the hair. Poor service, zero professionalism, hygiene problems, and disrespectful behavior. Completely ruined my Saturday. Not recommended
