We recently stayed at JW Marriott Pune, and one of the most memorable evenings from our trip was the private dinner we were hosted for at Tao Fu. The restaurant has such a calm, elegant atmosphere — soft lighting, warm interiors, and an understated sense of luxury that makes you feel instantly at ease. We were seated in a private dining setup, and the experience felt thoughtfully curated from start to finish. All the dishes were specially chosen for us by Chef Fu Lei, who’s originally from China and has designed Tao Fu’s menu around authentic flavours presented with a modern twist. We didn’t order anything ourselves — the team surprised us with a selection of their signature dishes, and each one was outstanding. The Mango Chicken was beautifully balanced with that perfect hint of sweetness, the assorted dim sums were delicate and flavourful, and there was a tofu preparation that my son absolutely loved. Every dish looked exquisite but, more importantly, tasted even better — fresh, clean, and full of character. Dessert was truly the highlight — the Bohai Cherry Black Forest, which was as stunning as it was delicious, followed by their signature Tao Fu Mag Magnum Ice Cream, a rich, indulgent homemade version that ended the meal on the perfect note. The service throughout was impeccable — warm, genuine, and quietly attentive. You could tell the staff really took pride in what they do, and Chef Fu Lei’s personal touch made the evening even more special. If you’re in Pune and appreciate authentic Asian cuisine done with finesse, Tao Fu is a place you shouldn’t miss. It’s elegant, memorable, and every element — from the food to the experience — feels thoughtfully put together.

We were treated to a very well-spoken server, who was also very well-attuned to every member of our party. The set menu he encouraged us to have was excellent. I did not expect it to be so elaborate so everyone in the party felt like they’d had too much to eat! But the menu was well curated, every dish was delicious and we were very well attended to and looked after. I would highly recommend this not just as a place to eat but as a dining experience. Pro tip — bring a sweater. The AC draft can be overwhelming.

One of the best Asian restaurants i have visited. The staff, Zeli and Matthu, had the most wonderful and positive attitude. The music selection was fabulous as well. The food surprised us in the best ways imaginable. From the cocktails to the starters to the dessert everything was picture perfect with an amazing palate

The food was excellent with its original taste of Chinese food - just the same as we had in China. The service was amazing as well. Our family enjoyed a great lunch and had a great time here. Much appreciate Chef Lei's details regarding all the foods. Solid 10/10!

What an amazing experience of authentic Chinese cuisine. Best part was they customize the dish based of your dietary preferences! Simply wow!

Overall, we had a good experience. Food was good - especially the Hakka noodles and the Kung Pao chicken and dim sum’s but you’d expect that as a basic from a place like this. Dessert options were limited - so we ordered 2 portions of the hyped bohai Black Forest (group of 5) it tasted just alright. What didn’t work at all for us was the lacklustre service. It started with them handing us an iPad which was very complicated to use and didn’t work. While trying to close a page it kept going to the next page. Then it got locked and we obviously didn’t know the password - but none of the staff were around to help us. Some of our guests simply gave up and ordered whatever the rest of us preferred -very poor experience.
