Had Vaishali special dosa and it was amazing.. single dosa’s quantity was enough for two people.. moved to Pune from south India and was not getting that taste anywhere, finally found it here.. there’s rush and place is generally crowded so plan accordingly

Food is simply average. Pune ke logo ne faltu ka hype kar rakha hai is jagah ko. Sambhar and coconut chutney are tasteless, nowhere near the original sambhar chutney.

I went there with high expectations as Vaishali tops the list of must visit, when in Pune. Ordered masala dosa and realized what a mistake. Average taste of food. Average ambience. Service was good but to what use?

Today I visited Vaishali Restaurant at FC Road, a place that has built its reputation over decades for dishes like Mysore Dosa. Unfortunately, my experience today was extremely disappointing and concerning. I ordered a Mysore Dosa, but when it arrived I immediately noticed that the aloo masala served with it was stale and had a bad smell. Anyone who eats South Indian food regularly can easily tell when the potato masala has gone bad. I informed the waiter politely, expecting the staff to take it seriously. Instead of checking it himself or informing the manager, he simply asked me to go and tell the manager. After insisting that he inform the manager, I had to wait around 10 minutes just to get someone to respond. When the manager finally came, his response was extremely rude. Without even properly checking the food, he told me directly that “the aloo masala is not bad” and that “no other customers are complaining.” I requested him to at least check it before dismissing the issue, but he refused and asked me to go speak to the cash counter instead. At the cash counter, the response was no better. The staff member kept repeating that “the masala is made fresh” without even considering the possibility that something could actually be wrong. Eventually, after a lot of back and forth, they agreed to replace the order with an uttappa, but the bigger issue here is the attitude and lack of accountability from the staff. For a restaurant as famous as Vaishali, this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. When a customer raises a genuine concern about food quality, the least the staff can do is check the issue respectfully instead of dismissing it outright. I would genuinely like to ask the owner of Vaishali: Do you still value your customers and their health, or has the restaurant become so successful that customer concerns no longer matter? Food safety is not something to take lightly. Serving stale food and then refusing to even acknowledge the possibility is deeply worrying. I urge the owner to look into this matter seriously, because incidents like this can slowly damage the reputation that Vaishali has built over many years. Also curious to hear from others — has anyone else experienced similar issues here recently?

Vaishali used to be one of my favourite places, and I have always cherished the memories of dining here over the years. However, during my visit about four months ago, I ordered a Tomato Omelette—and it turned out to be the worst I have ever had in my life. The taste, quality, and overall experience were extremely disappointing. In my opinion, after the unfortunate demise of the owner, and with the complete change in staff and management, this iconic place has lost its soul. What was once known for its consistency and quality has now deteriorated significantly. It is truly disheartening to see such a legendary establishment decline to this extent. Sadly, I will not be stepping in here again.

Horrible experience during my recent visit. This place is only for nostalgia but no standards maintained, by serving staff or my cleaning staff. Found a fly in my buttermilk and when I complained they took it as if it is a regular incident, no issues . Tables are dirty and not cleaned until you ask them to. Food is also very normal and below subpar quality, nothing extraordinary

what a hyped place, what a below average food. there are much better south indian joints in pune where you will get great south indian food in the rates cheaper than this plus there is no waiting and no hush hush.. don't waste your time money and appetite by going to this overhyped place..

shit ambience...and shit food. Worst sambar I have ever tasted. They should be ashamed of such low quality food. Better eat south Indian food outside on road stalls . Avoid this shit place at all cost.
