Before reaching Rishikesh, I had already shortlisted a few cafes to explore, and Om Freedom Cafe was right up there... Coincidentally, our hostel was just a stone's throw away from it... After reaching late at the hostel, we made our way to this much-talked-about cafe for dinner... The entrance was lively... A clothing store on the left... Upon entering there were several seating options overlooking the Ganga on the right side... Sadly, we couldn’t snag a riverside seat and had to settle for a cozy, dimly lit corner instead... We ordered Herbal Tea, Shakshuka, Cheese Mushroom Bruschetta and Rosemary Roasted Potato... The Shakshuka was wholesome and flavourful, although I would have preferred a runny yolk... The Tea hit the spot for a breezy night... The Bruschetta felt too familiar to leave a mark... And the Rosemary Roasted Potato... Well, I don't know why it was on the menu... It felt more like plain roasted potatoes with minimal seasoning... While the food might not wow you, the ambiance more than makes up for it

They have the most extensive menu so far! Even compared to the cafés in Delhi, their menu is loaded! Just the service is a bit so so.. they don’t come visit the tables and you have to go tell them!

I’ve been a regular at Freedom Café, visiting seven times in the last 1.5 months, including four times in the past two days. I even waited 40 minutes for a table this time, just because I liked the food and the vibe. But after this visit, I don’t think I’ll ever step foot here again. We ordered a dal fry with rice for my 77-year-old father, who’s undergoing dental treatment and can only eat soft food. To our horror, he found a small black rock in the dal. Thankfully, he noticed it before chewing and managed to spit it out. We called the server and showed it to him politely, thinking they’d at least apologize. But no, the chef had the audacity to say it wasn’t their fault. When I went to the billing counter and demanded to speak to the chef, he refused to come out, saying he was “busy.” Busy with what? Tossing more rocks in the food? This behavior was insulting, especially since I’m a regular and waited so long for a table. Does he think I’d put a rock in my food just to get a free meal? Absolutely ridiculous! The manager tried to reduce the bill by 50%, but I didn’t want their discount—I wanted an apology, which I never got. I ended up paying ₹1500 for a total bill of ₹1220, left a tip too, and walked out feeling disgusted. To anyone planning to visit this café: If they can’t even keep rocks out of their food, I don’t even want to imagine how filthy their kitchen must be. Think twice before eating here—you might end up with more than just food on your plate!

⭐ 1/5 – Extremely Disappointing & Poor Hospitality Freedom Cafe is extremely overhyped. What should have been a pleasant visit turned into a very uncomfortable experience. My parents are 60+, and my mother cannot sit on the floor. We clearly informed the staff about this, but they refused to arrange a table outside, saying it was too sunny. Thankfully, a kind couple inside offered us their table. However, shortly after we sat down, a waiter asked us to vacate because the table was “reserved” for people who hadn’t even reached the café yet. What was surprising is that the same staff who earlier refused to arrange a table outside suddenly said they could set one up in the sun for us. After making us wait for around 30 minutes, they asked my elderly parents to stand up again without any apology or basic courtesy. Instead, we were casually told, “it’s okay, aap jao.” This level of insensitivity and lack of hospitality is unacceptable. The management clearly prioritizes reservations over basic human decency, even at the cost of making elderly guests uncomfortable. Definitely not worth the hype. There are far better places with good service and views. You can watch the pics below how he is arguing, i also have videos which i am mot able to share here. The way the cafe is stinky as well and service is worst, customer isn’t considered King.

Worst experience ever. This place is absolutely overrated. We took our entire family for a dinner after seeing online reviews and reels about it. The staff had absolutely no courtesy to respond well on when will the table be available and how long will it take. We waited for 40-45 mins just to know that they still don't care that we have been waiting as they have many people already visiting. Rather try many other cafes available and don't let the hype of such cafes be to such an extent that they forget the basic principles of hospitality. Rather will recommend go to Machan or Arches. Good food. Good vibe. Great hospitality

Overhyped cafe , service is pathetic and the staff behaviour was so bad. They don’t have any manners to talk to their customers and they were behaving so badly. I think it’s overhead. The food quality is so bad and no one should prefer them
