About the Event

Inspired by the mythical traveller, Shizu’s culinary adventures around the world, the F&B arm of Phoenix Mills Limited presents ‘Episodes at Shizusan’, a series of interactive workshops on cuisine, beverages and mixology.


The first masterclass under this aegis will hosted by Chef Paul Kinny, Culinary Director – Phoenix Mills Limited at Shizusan in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune.


Chef Paul’s workshop will introduce gourmands and home chefs to the finer nuances of creating two variants of the traditional Laksa – a Singapore Tom Yum Laksa (with shrimp) and a Malaysian Laksa (vegetarian).


Warm and wholesome, Laksa is the perfect comfort food for the rainy season. In fact, there is a theory that traces it back to Hindi-Persian lakhshah, referring to a type of vermicelli. It has also been suggested that Laksa has come from the Chinese word for ‘spicy sand’ due to the ground dried prawns which give the sauce a sandy, gritty texture.

The restaurant is centred around the adventures of the fictional traveller and passionate foodie, Shizusan. His recipes take inspiration from his travels across Thailand, China, Japan, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
About Chef Paul Kinny
Chef Paul’s passion for innovation along with his witty yet humble approach has given him quite the name in the culinary world. His passion for different cuisines from all over the globe is what got him into the business. After spearheading award-winning restaurants at Intercontinental and the St. Regis Mumbai, CPK (as he is fondly known) is at the helm of the culinary activations of the F&B arm of Phoenix Mills. When it comes to food, he swears by these prerequisites; seasonal & fresh produce, uncomplicated flavours, high on visual appeal with sublime textures. As much as he likes his food fancy at work, his go-to comfort food at home is yellow dal with handful of spinach in it.
