About the Event
About Play
"POSTER" is about poor laborers of a backward village whose landowner 'Patel' has
been exploiting them from the beginning. He has full support of top officers of his
area who allow him to do so without any fear. Laborers are denied even their basic
needs and are forced to work on minimum wages. But as we know, a small spark can
lead to a big fire; a small incident (a Poster) makes them realize their power and their
requirement in this society. The story is about how they stand for themselves and
fight for their rights. Director has put efforts to correlate the situation of this old,
backward village laborer with current situation of laborers in our country.
Director’s Note:
While directing the play POSTER, I wanted to make it a connecting line between
labourers of a village and labourers of a city, since their struggles and their lives are
somehow similar. We have tried to showcase the situation, struggle and courage of
laborers of our country in an entertaining way. We have used the elements of
Nautanki Shaili in this play. Displays of various art forms like music, dance, acting,
lighting, designing etc. are important ingredients. Play displays many
emotions that a laborer goes through his life. Completely live music is used in
the play which is meaningful, appealing and with a folk touch to it.
The play leaves audience with a question that how easy and
how hard is it to bring a revolution.
