The Horse is a funny, absurd, historical comedy set in first-century Rome. In this world where power is everything and nothing makes sense, everyone says “Yes, sir, of course, sir” to Emperor Caligula, even when it means… slightly unreasonable demands. The play follows the tragicomic rise of an ambitious young man, Selanus, and his handsome horse Incitatus, who causes quite the stir in the upper echelons of Roman society. This wildly irreverent political satire is inspired by events from ancient Rome and gives us a hilarious, unsettling look at ambition, delusion, herd mentality, and the absurd circus of power.

Directed by the illustrious Sunil Shanbag, The Horse gallops through history with biting humour, bold staging, and a wicked commentary on power, made for fans of theatre who like their plays intelligent, subversive, and fully unhinged.
