Adi Shakti” is a dance drama presented by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The production explores the eternal power of Mahamaya and the cosmic cycles of creation, destruction and transformation through the divine journey of Sati and Mahadev.
Drawing a symbolic parallel between the immeasurable power of a black hole and the infinite, unseen energy of Mahamaya, the dance drama portrays Sati’s birth, penance, union with Shiva and self-sacrifice, followed by Mahadev’s Tandava and the fierce and peaceful manifestations of Mahamaya. Featuring ICCR scholars from five countries—Bangladesh, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Nigeria, the production celebrates the universal language of dance, international cultural exchange and the shared artistic traditions of diverse nations.
