About the Event

About the play:

In today’s context, where hatred is expanding it’s wings across the hearts of humans ,the play aims to educate the masses, especially youth, that real peace can be established by winning the hearts , not by winning battles. The play unfolds with the childhood of Asoka caged by the partial behavior of his father, Bindusar which ropes the seeds of hatred inside Asoka making him ambitious, cruel and timid altogether. Upon clasping the throne through cruelty, Asoka the emperor went on to conquer Kalinga (presently Orissa), the following war makes a great impact on his life and psychological state of his mind. Eventually accepting Buddhism, Asoka submits himself on the path of non- violence and to work for betterment of the mankind and humanity. Plus the text talks about the last days of Asoka, from an ambitious youth to a cruel Monarch and further to a peace lover and a Monk through the medium of theatrical performance. A delightful experience to witness is on board at Kamani Auditorium, 5th January 2020.
