Bad Drawing Party

About

The opposite of a workshop, GaysiFamily’s Bad Drawing Party is an invitation to break the rules we've been told to follow as adults. Here, the only rule is: draw badly. Don't conform. Break the rules. Make something that makes no sense. Dream the intangible.

A deliberate subversion because everything we've been taught about art, self-expression, and storytelling is rooted in getting it 'right'. It's always been about following the binary and dominant definitions of beauty, bodies, family, relationships, etc.

Allowing ourselves to be 'bad' then becomes essential in the journey to writing an alternate future that's not confined by rules made by only a select few, for a world where a spectrum of identities, narratives, and intersections exist.

The session is a light exploration of the defiant stories from the Queer India Now anthology, published by Westland, edited by Dhamini Ratnam and Dhrubo Jyothi.
