Ben van den Dungen has been active in the scene for more than 40 years. He graduated with honors from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 1988. After his studies in The Hague, his passion for jazz took him to international destinations to further broaden his musical horizons, including New York, Cuba, Colombia and India. He has given more than 6,000 concerts in 75 countries and has been part of influential groups such as the Ben van den Dungen / Jarmo Hoogendijk 5tet, Nueva Manteca and Tango Extremo.

In addition to his performing career, he has been a dedicated music teacher and composer for 33 years, with more than 80 compositions to his name. In recent years, Ben has been committed to the interests of musicians in the cultural sector with his work in organizations such as the Kunstenbond/NTB, BIMPRO, BumaCultuur and the National Podium Plan.
