Write the next hit web-series:

Everyone has an idea for a web-series, and everyone is capable of writing a web-series. This workshop will teach you how to identify what works for the web, hone your ideas and put them on paper. You will learn what makes a story good. How writing a web-series is different from writing a film.

Experienced screenwriter Manisha Korde will teach you the elements of screenwriting, plotting, creating empathetic characters, finding structure, episode breakdown, and writing dialogues. Furthermore, she will teach youhow to identify stories for the web, how to adapt a literary work ( short story, novel etc) into a web series, and how to protect your work. She will walk you through getting in a foot in the door and how to pitch to OTT platforms.

By the end of the course, you’ll have an understanding of how to methodically approach an idea and slowly expand it to create an episodic structure. You will have an understanding of the different elements that go into making an impactful web-series.

You will be expected to develop your own ideas and characters. The course is meant to be discussion based, so come ready to give and receive critical feedback.

COURSE DESIGN:

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Manisha Korde is a veteran screenwriter, and dialogue writer who has written 14 films in the last fifteen years. Right from ‘Malamaal Weekly’ (2005) to ‘Hungama 2’ (2020), Manisha has written multiple films for legendary director Priyadarshan. Manisha has also adapted Ruskin Bond’s short stories into the web series ‘Parchayee’ for Zee5 - for which, she was nominated in the Best Writing Award category at Streaming Awards. Manisha’s forte lies in creating deep empathetic characters, unique storylines, and rib-tickling dialogues. Manisha is a master of humour, suspense, and horror - a rare trait in a writer. Apart from writing, Manisha is also involved in the Screenwriters Association for the last eight years as Executive Committee Member, and Joint Secretary, where Manisha makes sure that voices of young writers are represented, and heard.
