About

Inspired by Pata Dekhabo?, an exhibition exploring narrative scrolls, storytelling traditions, and vernacular image-making practices from Bengal and Jharkhand, this workshop introduces participants to modes of narration in and inspired by the Pattachitra painting tradition. The exhibition highlights how stories, rituals, and everyday life have been represented through visual narratives across generations.

Drawing from the storytelling strategies seen in the exhibition, participants will create a painted composition based on a short story or myth, exploring the idea of continuous narration, where multiple moments of a narrative coexist within a single image.

Through the process, participants will develop an understanding of how narrative, time, and space are represented in Indian artistic traditions, and how cultural and philosophical ideas are expressed through visual forms and storytelling practices.
