This June, Craftopia comes to Utsav, The Square, GMR Aerocity in collaboration with India Experiences®, bringing together four days of immersive making, material exploration, and creative discovery.
This special edition is inspired by the materials, traditions, and everyday practices that shape our relationship with the environment. Through processes of making, participants will explore ideas of sustainability, resourcefulness, and care, discovering how stories can emerge from natural materials, inherited knowledge, and simple acts of creation.
For ages 6 to 14 years.
Day 1 – Burlap Overlap
Using repurposed textiles as a starting point, participants will stitch, layer, and reshape materials through playful experimentation and process.
Day 2 – Kitchen Imprints
Drawing from ingredients commonly found in the kitchen, participants will experiment with natural pigments and light-sensitive printing processes, uncovering how time, sunlight, and organic materials can produce surprising visual traces.
Day 3 – Earth as Canvas
Participants will create with earth-based pigments and natural textures, exploring mark-making and surface-building techniques inspired by traditional practices and the landscapes around us.
Day 4 – Interlaced Structures
Through weaving, bending, and constructing with natural materials such as cane, participants will investigate how structure and form emerge through traditional techniques and material knowledge.
Over four days, Craftopia offers a space for experimentation, reflection, and making by hand. The programme culminates in a collection of artworks and experiences that celebrate creativity, sustainability, and a deeper connection to the materials and environments that surround us.
