About the Event
Greetings, fellow cinephiles!
Black & White films have almost entirely vanished from today's cinematic environment. There are still some black-and-white productions, but with cinema rapidly becoming an all-digital medium and black-and-white film stock becoming increasingly difficult to come by, colour has fully taken over. We are here to change that and take you back in time!
From Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe to Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor, Black & White films and TV shows were truly a breath-taking era in history. Get ready for a dose of nostalgia at this meet-up.
Here are a few must-watch classics from the Black and White Industry:
1. The Women (1939)
2. Where's That Fire? (1939)
3. Topper Takes a Trip (1938)
4. Roman Holiday (1953)
5. Do Bigha Zamin (1953)
6. Boot Polish (1954)
7. Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958)
8. The Kid (1921)
9. City Lights (1931)
10. Awara (1951)
Let us come together to appreciate a golden era in the film industry and celebrate the world of cinema with a whole lot of love, laughter, and conversations. Register now!
P.S. There will also be a special movie screening!
Time: 8-10 p.m.
Date: Sunday, 30th May
Venue: Online
About the Community:
“I wish we could go to the movies."
I stared at him. "We're in a creepy dungeon. There's a chance I might die in the next few hours. You are going to die in the next few hours. And if you had one wish, it would be to catch a movie?”― Rachel Hawkins, Demonglass
For our community members, it would be!
Dialogues with Cinema (DWC) is our very own group of cinephiles which meets every 4th Sunday of the month to discuss, debate, deliberate, agree, disagree but most of all enjoy the world of cinema and talk about it. With topics of discussion ranging from particular movies and directors to cinematic styles, this community is highly dramatic and full of Dialogues.
