About the Artform

Stamps have existed in one form or another since around 500AD in the form of wax seals. Brass printing stamps were used to mark paper and the wax seals were used to secure important documents.

The rubber stamp was invented in 1839 – when Charles Goodyear dropped some rubber and Sulphur on a hot stove. The actual rubber stamp is said to have been invented by James Woodruff in 1866 by making letter molds. Rubber stamps are still relevant. They are used by business organizations and other institutions for official purposes.

Overall Details

The workshop will equip you with skills to design and make your own rubber stamp from scratch! You will learn how to carve out a design of your choice and make a permanent stamp out of it. The design can be your initial, a symbol that you love or pretty much anything else. A stamp is a wonderful way of creating artwork, decorating your diary, notebooks and calendar. You can even add your personal touch with the stamp while making cards for your friends and family!

At the end of the workshop, you will be left with a rubber stamp that represents you in a unique way!
