About the Event

On Shashthi, our itinerary includes a visit to the historic medieval kingdom of Bhurshut in the Hooghly district of Bengal. Bhurshut was ruled by many kings, from the time of the Pala and Sena dynasties to the 15th through 18th centuries."

The region was a significant economic hub, a river port and a gateway to other parts of Asia. As noted in the "Ain-i-Akbari", Bhurshut was one of the highest tax-paying polities during the Mughal Emperor Akbar's rule, largely due to its affluent trading community, the BhuriShresthas. We will tour Rajbalhat, the former capital, to see the ancient Maa Rajballavi Temple, along with other notable terracotta temples and the Sil Bari Bodhon arrangements.

Following this, we will proceed to Antpur, a site of historical importance where Swami Vivekananda stayed and resolved to embrace sannyasa. We will also visit Mitra Bari, their intricately designed terracotta temple complex, Ghosh Bari original family puja and the house of Premananda Maharaj where Maa Sarada resided during her visit in Antpur.
