About the venue

An evening of folklore, music, storytelling, and conversation exploring India's enduring relationship with nature.

Earth Tales, authored by the Centre for Contemporary Folklore (CCF) and published by Duckbill, an imprint of Penguin Random House India, is an illustrated collection of folklore exploring nature, wildlife, and the environment. Bringing together tales from every state and union territory, the book draws from communities across the country and features traditional regional art styles, celebrating the diversity of India's cultural and ecological traditions.

The launch brings these tales to life through a folk music performance by Martand Badoni, followed by dramatised readings of select folktales from the book and a conversation that connects these narratives to contemporary ecological concerns, leading into the unveiling of Earth Tales.

In collaboration with the Centre for Contemporary Folklore (CCF), Duckbill and Penguin Random House India.

FREE WOMAN OWNED AND RUN PLACE. HELL YEAH I LOVED EVERY OF BIT OF IT. I visited the Kiran Nadar Museum for the first time, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. It was my first-ever visit to an art gallery, and I walked out completely in awe. Ever since then, I’ve become a bit of an art gallery junkie. The best part? Entry is completely free. All you gotta do is sign your name when you walk in, and that’s it. There was barely any crowd, which made the whole experience feel so calm and peaceful. The staff were also incredibly kind and welcoming. When I visited, there was an exhibition featuring Tyeb Mehta’s work. His work makes you stop, look, and reflect on the world around you instead of just walking past them. I found myself spending much longer with each piece than I expected. Another bonus is that the museum is inside DLF Mall, so once you’re done exploring the galleries, you can grab a bite, shop, or just walk around. It makes for such a nice day out. Overall, I’d give it a solid 10/10. Whether you’re into art or have never stepped inside a gallery before, I’d absolutely recommend visiting. GREAT WORK!! a lot of the collection was dedicated to comics and being someone who loved comics as a child , it took me back to my childhood. A lot of political issues covered and recognised through art as well, a whole section dedicated to feminism and a lot of unique artwork! My personal favorites were Balaji Ponna's art and the photography×fabric art section. I'd love to visit again sometime for sure You can read a lot about the topics covered in the exhibition too. I recommend coming here with at least 2 hours in hand if you wish to enjoy interacting and connecting well with the art.Read More

Stepping into this museum feels like completely escaping the noise of Delhi and finding pure peace. History The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) is known as one of India's first private museums dedicated to modern and contemporary art. It was set up to make high-quality art more accessible to the public, blending historical pieces with modern exhibitions. My Experience Beautiful is honestly the only word I could think of. I came here on my birthday, expecting to quickly walk through in about 15 to 20 minutes, but the space was so surprisingly calm that I ended up staying for over an hour. Honestly, I only left because my phone was about to die, or else I would have stayed even longer. If you have any interest in art and history, this place perfectly blends the two into an experience you shouldn't miss. Atmosphere & Crowd The atmosphere is incredibly quiet and relaxed, a complete contrast to the busy mall right next door. It’s spacious and uncrowded most of the time, with people quietly appreciating the artwork, making it very easy to just walk around and take your time without feeling rushed. Travel & Logistics Getting here is super easy. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the back gate of Select Citywalk Mall in Saket. You can easily park at the mall if you're driving. Entry is completely free. You just scan a QR code at the door and fill in some basic details on the KNMA website to register. Exhibitions One of the best parts is that the museum never feels repetitive. KNMA regularly rotates its artworks and exhibitions. They have a massive permanent collection of over 10,000 pieces, so everything can’t be displayed at once. They frequently host theme-based or artist-focused exhibitions that change every few months, and even their own collection is rotated in and out of the galleries. This means if you visit again after some time, you’ll most likely experience something completely new. The Nitty-Gritty Exhibitions & Pricing: The art displays are high-quality, deeply thoughtful, and absolutely free to view. Staff: Really kind, helpful, and observant. When I was about to walk out, a guard actually stopped me just to gently point out a whole section I had missed. I'm so glad he did, because that last part truly completed the visit. Quick Breakdown Pros: Completely free entry; incredibly peaceful vibe right next to a busy, loud mall area. Cons: It can get a little crowded now because of Instagram and more people coming to visit. Accessibility The museum floor is wide, flat, and spacious, making it very easy to navigate and highly wheelchair accessible. Final Verdict & Rating It easily gets 5 stars from me. It offers such a calming, high-quality art experience for absolutely zero cost, complete with staff who actually care about you seeing the whole exhibition. It's a true hidden gem in the city.
