What do you mean ‘Shaukeen Style'?

This style of open-mics were started in the spirit of making the stage a less intimidating & more welcoming space. Anyone who has something to say, there is a place here for you & the aim is to make you as comfortable as we can before you get on stage. We begin the open mic with ice-breakers & getting to know one another. At every open mic we've done we've seen audience members get on stage and perform, given the safe space each person in the room helps us create.

About the facilitator

Nalini is a creator of expression-safe-spaces. Her mission is to create conscious experiences that bring people together in more intimate, connection centric environments. Her inspiration draws from the lack of options to meet people and build meaningful relationships in a fast-paced city like Bangalore. She is first and foremost an artist & her interests in a variety of mediums have helped her learn from and connect to a vibrant community of dancers, musicians, visual artists, change-makers, poets & more, bringing a unique flavour into the experiences she creates.
