At an altitude of 14000 ft, be prepared to experience a mix of easy and difficult trails through thick pine forests, open meadows, adrenaline pumping waterways that involves an adventurous crossing of a high altitude pass (of course with incredible views of glacial valleys!). It has everything from crossing rivers to climbing boulders! And the beauty is something which is too much to absorb! Another reason why Hampta pass is famous trekking zone is snow; the pass has lump sum snow! Generally, it takes 5 days to complete the Hampta pass trek, but one more day is further added to the itinerary so that there is enough time for acclimatisation and of course, to visit the well-known and striking Chandratal, a high altitude alpine lake few hours from Chhatru.


About Hampta pass


Hampta Pass lies at an altitude of 4270 m (14009 ft) on the Pir Panjal range in the Himalayas. It is a small corridor between Lahaul and Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh.The terrain changes from a green paradise to a rocky cold desert in just a few meters across the pass.It is also known to be the road to heaven, (as it was the route taken by Yudhishthira on his ascent to heaven). The Hampta Pass is also named after the Rishi that meditated there named Hampta Maharishi.
