A two-day immersive workshop introducing participants to the art and science of experimental eco-printing. Drawing from the rich history of natural dyes in India and contemporary sustainable textile practices, the workshop invites participants to engage directly with plant materials to create unique botanical impressions on fabric.
Through hands-on experimentation, participants will explore the complete eco-printing process—from understanding suitable natural fibres and preparing fabric through scouring and mordanting, to identifying dye-yielding plants, conducting simple dye tests, and creating prints using multiple eco-printing techniques. The workshop also introduces colour modification methods that reveal the transformative possibilities hidden within natural dyes.
Combining observation, foraging, craft knowledge, and experimentation, the workshop encourages participants to develop a deeper relationship with the natural environment while discovering the expressive potential of plant-based textile practices. Participants will take back 4 dyed square fabrics back home.
