We’re hosting a Frank Zappa Listening Session at The Revolver Club, and this one is for anyone who loves music that refuses to sit inside a box.
Zappa’s catalogue is wild, inventive, and impossible to pin down — a blend of rock, jazz, orchestral writing, political satire, studio experimentation, and a kind of humour that only he could get away with. Across his decades of work, he shaped entire approaches to arrangement, guitar phrasing, and recording techniques, influencing everyone from progressive rock bands to modern composers.
For this session, Barun C. is curating a set that dives into different corners of Zappa’s world: his early work with The Mothers of Invention, the razor-sharp mid-70s era, and some of his most ambitious compositions. If you’ve never heard his music on a proper system, it’s a completely different experience — the details, the textures, the sheer personality of it all come alive in the room.
