Skinny Mo's Jazz presents International Jazz Weekend

We are very excited to bring you the International Jazz Weekend with some stellar bands from different parts of the world.

We kickstart with

Xander Naylor Trio on the 10th of December. 8pm

Xander Naylor is a guitarist and composer who gathers the vocabularies and core energetic forces of avant jazz, post-rock, and Indian classical music, into what Rolling Stone India describes as “that signature Naylor sound.” Born of his own spiritual journey and deep study of multiple Eastern and Western traditions, Naylor’s music has brought him to perform in concerts and festivals all over the world. Naylor is a ground-breaking guitarist, and a fearless searcher, forging new techniques, extending sounds, and employing rhythmic acrobatics, all in service of a visceral musical experience.

We feature two bands on the 11th of December

EPO Trio - 6:30pm

EPO is a musical formation with variable geometry founded by Guy Constant, assisted by Nicolas Arnoult for the arrangements.

Its primary vocation is to bring rhythm in its most musical forms (and in particular polyrhythm as a universal value) together with other instruments.

Each orchestral form is relatively atypical and they try to make it sound original, the percussions being used both for their rhythmic effect and also as an "orchestral colour and sound palette" (choice of timbres, instruments). They try to constantly explore and question the relationship between Rhythm/Melody and Improvisation/Writing in order to create music that feeds on the moment and allows them to express themselves fully.

HI5 – Minimal Jazz Chamber Music - 8:30pm

Drums, guitar, vibraphone and bass are sufficient HI5 to tear down genre boundaries casually, playfully and creatively. A „ jazz band “, which spends a lot of time in the rehearsal room to work out their sophisticated arrangements, only to surprise them at live concerts, that you always play freely and keep a lightness that shows nothing of the hard work behind it: you don't hear something like that every day. Listening here is both a pleasure and an adventure.
