Khadi Workshop – Celebrating the Fabric of Freedom

This Independence Day, introduce your child to the story of Khadi—India’s fabric of freedom. In this meaningful, hands-on workshop, children will explore the history, texture, and spirit of Khadi, and then create a beautiful block-printed Khadi handkerchief—a keepsake they can use with pride in everyday life.

We’ll begin by telling children the inspiring story of how Khadi became a symbol of India’s freedom struggle, using real samples of handwoven fabric. Children will feel, observe, and learn how Khadi is spun and woven, and understand its cultural and historical value.

Inspired by this journey, they’ll then get hands-on with traditional Rajasthani wooden blocks and fabric paints to print their own Khadi handkerchief. Guided by professional artists and designers, every child will walk away with a deeper appreciation for Indian heritage—and a beautiful, functional creation.
