Kaleekarma is a storyteller whose language is sound. For over than a decade, she has shaped theatrical aural journeys that sit between stillness and intensity, the earthly and the otherworldly. As an artist, she is drawn to organic textures, folk traditions, retro currents and futuristic rhythms. Kalee’s sets are bound by intent: to create space on the dance-floor where people leave lighter than they arrived. For her, music, life, and love are inseparable. That outlook shapes the simplicity of her sets: they are stripped of unnecessary ornamentation, layered instead with depth and warmth. Her intention is always to create space for discovery, both for herself and for those who dance with her. Each performance is also an inward journey. Kaleekarma observes herself as much as she observes the crowd: the tapping in and out of moments, noticing what allows her to flow and what interrupts it. “The dancefloor is where I discover things about myself,” she says. “It’s a place where frequencies get mirrored back to us, and the real work happens when I go home and reflect on what made me shift, what made me stay.” Growth, for Kaleekarma, is not about acquiring more but about returning to simplicity with greater awareness. She plays so that the primal act of dancing can be returned to its roots. In her own words: “With my work around music, I want to bring the joy of dancing and listening to a simpler level.” Over the past decade, Kaleekarma has earned a reputation for bringing fresh and fearless soundscapes to the booth. Venues, promoters, and cultural institutions across India know her for her ability to craft deeply immersive journeys. She has shared stages with celebrated artists including Four Tet, Batu, Ben UFO, Daniel Avery, HVOB, Deena Abdelwahed, Stimming, Stavroz, Zero7, Nu, and A Guy Called Gerald. Each set reflects the trust placed in her—an expectation that she will deliver a ride that both surprises and moves. In 2018, she launched Kindled Love, first as a mix series on boxout.fm and later as a platform for events. The series explores the deep yet light, earthy yet spunky side of music. It includes a wide variety of genres from world sounds to electronica, folk and country style bass influenced music to lo-fi, beats, and more. Essentially, the space of sound where the love for bass and melody finds its perfect slow rhythm and depth. Over time it has become an ongoing sanctuary for listening, reflection, and growth. Her festival appearances include Celtronic ’22 in Northern Ireland, STIHIA ’22 in Uzbekistan, and multiple editions of Magnetic Fields Festival in Rajasthan. She was part of the British Council India’s #CultureConnectsUs programme in 2022 and has contributed mixes to series like Mixmag’s Lab (Mumbai and Goa editions), Keep Hush (London), piknk.fm, and more. These platforms amplified her voice, but her impact comes from the way she inhabits them: grounded, intentional, and committed to the dancefloor’s emotional intensity.
