KCC presents Light, Loss, and the Lyrical Frame — an evocative masterclass with acclaimed cinematographer Vikas Urs. 

How does one see feeling? How can a frame hold memory? In this intimate and immersive session, participants will explore how light, shadow, and silence become tools of emotional storytelling. Inspired by the haunting visual legacy of Guru Dutt and the quiet intensity of Urs’s celebrated films like Pedro (2021) and Shivamma (2022), this session delves into the lyrical power of the moving image. 

Urs will share insights from his deeply observational work rooted in rural Karnataka, his collaborations with director Natesh Hegde, and his distinctive approach to cinematography — one shaped by intuition, patience, and the play of natural light. Through film clips, conversations, and live analysis, the session reveals how the unspoken can be rendered cinematically.
