Mohd. Shameem is a puppeteer and puppet designer. He started his journey in puppetry at the age of 15 under the guidance of Kapil Dev, who mentored him in the basics of puppetry movement & sculpting. He was trained by internationally renowned sculptor Shri K S Radhakrishnan. Shameem’s puppetry skills were further refined under Dadi Pudumjee and Anurupa Roy, two of India's foremost contemporary puppeteers. In 2023, he participated in a masterclass in Object Theatre under Yael Rasooly in Norway, thus adding Object Theatre to his repertoire. He is the founder of Puppetshala Performing Arts. Shameem was also the recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for puppetry in 2014.
