Sahil Samuel, born on February 23, 1993, in Chandigarh, is the powerhouse frontman and founder of the Hindi-Urdu fusion band Naalayak, a title bestowed upon him by his parents and teachers since high school. Naalayak is an independent Pop Rock band based in Delhi/Chandigarh, known for their raw, soulful sound and a unique blend of Hindi and Urdu in their lyrics. Naalayak has carved a special place in the hearts of fans, particularly among the youth. The band’s powerful performances and meaningful songwriting continue to fuel their growing influence in the indie music scene. Sahil’s journey as an artist has been driven by his passion for music and defying expectations. Starting in 2014 with local gigs, he gained experience with the band Swastik, eventually forming Naalayak in 2015. The band—comprising Sahil (vocals and acoustic guitar), Mingma Lama(lead guitar), Ashish Dey(bass), and Aditya(drums)—has released music that resonates through a raw mix of Hindi and Urdu lyrics. With over 300 songs written, Naalayak released their debut EP in 2018, featuring tracks like “Bawra” and “Haan Pyaar Hai.” Naalayak's latest album, Sexy Bhaiji, explores themes through Hindi-Urdu lyrics that reflect Sahil Samuel's unique approach. Naalayak has performed at some of India’s top music festivals, including NH7 Weekender, SulaFest, and Ziro Festival of Music, bringing their Hindi-Urdu fusion sound to audiences across the country. They’ve also played at college and cultural festivals like Mood Indigo and the Hornbill Festival, connecting with a wide range of listeners. Led by Sahil Samuel, Naalayak’s live shows have helped them build a dedicated fanbase and a strong reputation in the indie music scene.
