Flow Club is back. This time, we're taking you to the mat.
NaCl x BJJ is a curated introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, designed for the completely uninitiated: just curiosity and a willingness to move.
Led by Debojit Dasgupta — Purple Belt, 13+ years of training, Head Coach & Co-founder of Flamingo Jiu-Jitsu (Bangalore), and someone who has introduced BJJ to over 300 people. This session is built for beginners and will walk you through the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu movement: distance management, structure, and staying calm under pressure.
There's a concept in Jiu-Jitsu that sounds almost counterintuitive: the safest place in a conflict is close to your opponent. Not away. Close. That's where leverage lives. That's where technique beats strength. That's the philosophy behind this session: Hug Thy Enemy.
Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling form of martial art that utilises a threat of a strangle or a joint lock to subdue an opponent. The philosophy of not throwing a punch or kick in a self-defence situation, and instead using control to mitigate, is highly effective and is being adopted globally by law enforcement.
Every roll on the mat is a conversation, a dialogue of play-fighting that reveals how you think under pressure, how you adapt when a plan falls apart, how calm you can stay when someone is actively working against you. It is as much a mental pursuit as it is a physical one.
