A poetry workshop exploring nature through observation, imagination, and creative writing.
What if clouds, rivers, forests, flowers, and moonlight could speak to us through poetry? Led by poet Anamika, Nature, In Verse invites participants to discover how poets observe and reimagine the natural world through language. Through recitation, close reading, discussion, and creative writing, participants read, listen, reflect, and experiment with words.
Drawing from the English Romantic and Hindi Chhayavad traditions, participants explore selected poems by William Wordsworth, John Keats, Mahadevi Varma, and Jaishankar Prasad. Through these works, they discover how flowers, forests, rivers, clouds, and rain become poetic images and metaphors for emotion, memory, longing, wonder, and philosophical reflection.
The workshop then moves from reading to writing, encouraging participants to observe their surroundings and draw on sensory experiences and personal memories to experiment with imagery and metaphor. Participants compose their own poems, bringing together observation, imagination, memory, and language.
