About the Event
Saturday Family Workshop
Patterns are more than decoration – they are a language found in both art and nature.
In Finnish design, repeating motifs often draw from local landscapes and wildlife, celebrating the interconnectedness of species and their homes. This family workshop, inspired by KNMA’s ongoing interactive presentation about the beloved Finnish character – Moomin, introduces participants to the idea of repetition as a bridge between cultural storytelling and ecological awareness. It invites them to see patterns as reflections of the world around us. Through guided painting, families will create their own patterned compositions and explore how colour, shape, and rhythm can transform simple sketches into vibrant designs.
Audience takeaways:
Understand how repeating patterns are used in art and design to create visual harmony
Discover the links between natural rhythms and artistic repetition
Gain awareness of biodiversity and the role of each species in our shared environment
Experience painting as a way to connect with cultural heritage and ecological values
Take home a unique painted artwork that reflects both creativity and environmental awareness
While you're here, explore the first-ever Moomin presentation in India – “Moomin 80 – The Door is Always Open” at KNMA Saket and let it inspire you!
