One Day Trek to Tahmini Ghat - Vinzai Sacred Grove

Located 65km west of Pune, Tamhini is a hilly place near Mulshi dam. The area is blessed with waterfalls, verdant valleys and lush semi-evergreen forests. The temple dedicated to Vinzai Devi and the beautiful Devrai (sacred grove) full of some interesting flora adding to the charm of the place. The forests are rich with birds, several species of rock crabs and various flowering plants.

Considering its ecological, faunal and floral significance the government decided to declare Tamhini a sanctuary leading to help protect, propagate and develop wildlife therein and its environment.

Whats the Plan?

Pick ups in Pune between 6-7 am from Blue Nile Restaurant

We will exit Pune city limits by 7:30 am

Until we cross Mulshi dam we will be passing by beautiful landscapes filled with lush green fields along the surrounding hills. Further the road snakes its way through extremely scenic valleys and cliffs at every turn, the journey itself is a part of the whole experience and cannot be missed. We also pass the massive Mulshi lake on the right hand side, the road is also covered with monsoon mist just like the lake. We stop for a heavy breakfast on the way.

The Trek:

We’ll reach our trekking point, Vinzai Devi temple just before the sacred grove and that’s where our trek begins.

Trek duration: 3 to 4 hours.

Single breakfast

Evening tea and snacks at 4 pm

Return to Pune

Reach Pune between 7 to 8 pm.

Trip facilities:

• Travel and toll: Pick up and drop off from our selected pick up points.

• Meals covered on the trip: Breakfast, and evening tea on day 1.

• Mineral water for drinking throughout the trip.

• Tour guides and camp leaders all along the trip.

• Medical assistance if required.

Trip excludes:

• Personal expenses (beverages, snacks, equipment)

• Personal medication

• Lunch

Things to carry:

1) It might rain so be prepared to get wet (Jackets/ raincoat/ wind-sheeter)

2) Trekking bag for all your belongings and one small sling bag (optional) to carry during the trek

3) Plastic bag to cover your electronic gadgets

4) Please wear light colored clothing pref. dry fit clothes with one spare set to change into after the trek

5) Good hiking or sports shoes

6) Caps and Hats

7) Hand Towel

8) Munchies and personal snacks

9) Personal medication

10) Camera (optional)

13) One liter water bottle (COMPULSORY)

IMPORTANT:

We will be having a late lunch, please carry snacks to munch on during the trek.

You do not have to carry your trekking bag all along the way. You can leave it back in the bus safely during the trek.

Please take care of all your belongings.

Notify us immediately in case of any medical emergency.

Anyone found under the influence of drugs or narcotics will be requested to leave the trip immediately, without any refund.

Adventure camping and outdoor sports/ recreation is purely for nature lovers and not for party groups; we respect nature and do our best to spread the awareness about wilderness preservation.

We like to keep the wildlife wild, please do not litter the forest/ sanctuary and the campsite.
