Facilitated by Tapati Chowdhury

Personal Graphic Story is a hands-on workshop led by artist and educator Tapati Chowdhury. In this session, participants will learn how to translate personal moments into visual stories. Through guided exercises, you will explore the various components of graphic storytelling – powerful composition, frame sequencing, camera angles, visual symbols, and the dynamic relationship between text and image. This workshop has two parts. The participants will begin by exploring inspiring examples of graphic storytelling. Then, you will create your own illustrated narrative based on your personal experiences.

This workshop encourages participants to look inward, observe, and narrate their world visually – one frame at a time.

Prerequisite: Photo-document of the journey from home to the Museum.

Audience Takeaways:

• Learn the fundamentals of visual storytelling and graphic narrative design.

• Explore how to combine text, symbols, and images to build cohesive stories.

• Understand framing, perspective, and visual rhythm in sequential art.

• Create a complete short graphic story inspired by a personal journey.

• Gain insights into narrative pacing, visual connection, and artistic flow.

• Develop confidence in expressing yourself through illustration and layout.
