About

Everyone just wants to be loved. Some choose dating apps. These clowns chose a doomed play…

What happens when a motley crew of bumbling clowns decides to stage Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya? In their hands, this timeless tale of longing and lost purpose turns into a glorious mess of backstage love, bruised egos, and dramatic breakdowns (on and off stage).

But as rehearsals unravel, it becomes clear that the real story isn’t just Chekhov’s; it’s theirs. In their fumbling, flailing attempts to perform a “serious play,” the clowns accidentally reveal the very heart of Vanya – the ache of unrealized dreams, the absurdity of existence, and the eternal, very human craving to feel seen.

Then comes the final blow: their beloved, battered theatre is being sold. The stage they call home is slipping away. And suddenly, it’s not just a play that’s falling apart. It’s their entire world.

Poor Vanya is part a hilarious farce, part a tender mess, and part a melancholic love letter to the theatre itself. A playful reimagining of a literary classic, filled with messy people doing their best to make something beautiful before the lights go out.

You don’t need to know Uncle Vanya to enjoy this. Just bring your heart; and maybe a handkerchief, for the laughs or the tears.
