My experience with Small World Bangalore Today I attended their Sushi Making Workshop, which was advertised as a chef-led class with sushi-making techniques and beverage pairing. Instead, there was no chef, no option on non veg ingredients, no beverages, no introduction, no sushi mats and imagine no chopsticks no basic things to making sushi and the person instructing us later admitted she didn’t actually know anything on sushi workshop. We were simply told to chop vegetables and assemble sushi without any real guidance. I later found out the actual sushi host had left just before the event. Rather than informing participants or cancelling the session, they went ahead with it anyway. Because they think people are fools and they can easily get away with it. We paid 1k per person for this. The most disappointing part was the owner’s (Saurav) response. There was no apology or accountability. I had to insist on speaking he didn’t even come to us after asking for him multiple times and had to push for a refund, which I eventually received. But his tone was so rude and felt like he did us some favour. Just sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision before booking events with Small World. Hopefully no one else has to go through the same experience.Read More

If “Google it yourself” was a paid Pichwai painting workshop, essentially. Calling this a “Pichwai painting workshop” is generous. We were essentially handed basic supplies (the kind most people already have at home) and told to copy designs off Google. No technique, no structured guidance as mentioned on BookMyShow. The “instructor” started an hour late, and seemed to be an unsuccessful comedian who asked us why we were interested in Pichwai and then laughed as if it was the greatest joke when we said we liked art and wanted to learn a new art form. She was more like a hypeman than a teacher throughout the workshop, and she was "handling" multiple different workshops parallely (think clay trinket making, koi fish pond making, some resin art, pichwai painting all on the same table). If the goal was to learn anything beyond what a 5-minute YouTube video could offer, that expectation will not be met. For ₹900, it felt like paying to sit at a table and DIY something you could have done at home, for free, with better lighting and less chaos. I would have rather spent that money on supplies (and gotten much more than one MDF circle and rental brushes, acrylic colours and water). At the end, the "instructor" asked if expectations were met and when we gave constructive feedback saying we would have liked a more guided experience, she laughed and said this was just a "free form" art and whether we understood the difference between pichwai style and madhubani style. What she had said about these two styles in the whole workshop - "madhubani is used in palaces, and pichwai has sacred elements like cows and peacocks". I know more about pichwai as I did my own homework using Google, different articles, some chatgpt-ing. Save your money, open Google or Chatgpt, and you’ll get the same (arguably better) experience.Read More

I've gone for small world workshops twice, and each was a bad experience I'll never forget. I went for a baking workshop that costed 1000 rupees. We ended up making a very tiny amount of chocolate chip cookies, and the entire time the instructors were talking to the other participants and completely ignoring me. I mean, i'm a little socially awkward, and these classes are also about the interactions, so they should put a little more effort in including everyone. Then they baked the cookies in two batches and completely burned my first batch. So that's half my money wasted, and all they said was sorry, it's all our fault without actually seeming apologetic. Then the second batch of cookies came fine, but I was already tired of this. I didnt enjoy it at all. The second time I was dragged to a dance workshop by my friends. We're all horrendous in dancing, and they combined people from all levels in one class. The instructor was apparently new and it was her first time teaching, so once the experienced half of our group realized that, they completely took over and started making up steps for the song and changing it again and again to suit their preference. It was worse than following a youtube tutorial at home. Never go for small world guys, its a big scamRead More

Went to the perfume making workshop, it was a disaster of organising or lack thereof. The trainer did not seem to do their homework or reflect their expertise. ChatGPTed (even mentioned this vocally to the group) about the FAQs and process of making perfumery. Then went on to have limited variety of essential oils (which are not to be used on skin) and when asked, ordered more of the same essential oils on BlinkIt and delayed the workshop meanwhile (asked us to try other activities). Very unsatisfied with this experience and would not recommend.Read More

Very disappointing and poorly organised experience. I had booked the resin art workshop through the BookMyShow app, and the workshop was initially scheduled at Big Bean Cafe. We reached the location on time and waited there, but nobody informed us that the venue had been changed. Only after contacting the cafe owner, we came to know that the organisers had shifted the workshop to another nearby venue, Small World in Koramangala. It was extremely frustrating and inconvenient to find out about the change only after reaching the original venue. A simple notification or message from the organisers could have saved us a lot of confusion and wasted time. This showed a lack of responsibility and proper coordination from their side. Because of the delay and confusion, we had very little time left to complete the workshop. The art supplies provided were also limited, and the overall arrangements did not feel well planned. They also did not provide any coffee, refreshments, or food as expected for a workshop experience. The guidance provided during the resin art process was not proper. The organisers did not explain the steps clearly or ensure that the resin was handled correctly. Unfortunately, the resin did not dry properly, and while carrying it back home, the artwork got spoiled completely. After spending time and money on the workshop, it was very disappointing to see the final outcome ruined due to poor guidance and lack of proper instructions. Overall, the experience was frustrating and not worth the money. The organisers need to improve their communication, planning, venue coordination, material quality, and participant guidance. I hope they take this feedback seriously and ensure a better experience for future attendees.Very disappointing and poorly organised experience.Read More
