This workshop introduces participants to how colour behaves through relationship and placement rather than as a fixed element. Focusing on the Bezold Effect, the session explores how small changes in surrounding colours can significantly alter the way an image is perceived, even when the main colours remain the same.
Through guided exercises using a limited palette, participants will observe how subtle shifts in colour placement can create noticeable differences in contrast, balance, and visual impact. The workshop highlights how minimal adjustments can reshape the overall composition, revealing the dynamic nature of colour perception.
Connecting these ideas to the practice of Tyeb Mehta, participants will understand how restricted colour systems and tightly structured forms can generate strong visual intensity. The session demonstrates how even the smallest changes within a limited palette can transform meaning and deepen the emotional presence of an artwork.
Designed for children and young adults, the workshop offers an engaging introduction to perceptual colour theory, encouraging close observation, experimentation, and a deeper understanding of how colour functions within an image.
