A fantastic, well-organized family outing and truly one of the lesser-known gems in Pune. Parking is conveniently available right outside the facility. Stepping into the museum feels like a trip back to our school days and summer vacations spent watching Malgudi Days—it is deeply nostalgic. The displays are brilliantly laid out, and the two light and sound shows are absolutely great additions that bring the artwork to life. Just ensure you arrive before 4 PM so you have enough time to catch both performances. It was fascinating to learn more about the Narayan family and see how incredibly talented, yet remarkably simple, they were. The layout is incredibly easy to navigate, and it perfectly bridges the gap between generations; both of my children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were highly engaged by the exhibits. The R K Laxman Museum, located in Pune, should be on your list if you are curious to know about the infamous life of R K Laxman and witness all of his works. There is ample parking space available right outside the museum and it is easy to locate too. The museum is well maintained, and has no crowd. You can take your own sweet time to read through all of the exhibits. The staff is courteous and a nominal entry fee is charged at the entrance. The exhibits are spread across 2 floors and the basement houses a miniature model of the Malgudi Town. It is a treat to your eyes and you can relive the moments from your childhood at this museum, and kids are bound to enjoy the same. There is a souvenir store as well, but the prices are sky high for most of the items.Read More

The museum is calm, clean, and well maintained. It showcases many of his famous cartoons, especially the “Common Man” The displays are simple yet meaningful, and you can easily spend a couple of hours here exploring his work. 1. Since childhood, have been watching & reading the journey of a common man in Newspapers. Have seen Malgudi Days umpteen number of times. But really disappointed to see the Museum of that person who was one of his kind in the entire nation. 2. The caricatures & his work has been displayed in depth. But where’s the presentation part, where’s the staff to play the audio visual show or for that matter even switch on the lights & fan of the different halls. The cafeteria area is guards own villa where he relaxes with his slippers removed, sitting & watching some nonsense in his mobile. The lady with housekeeping was talking talking & talking only on her phone for the entire 20 mins, very appalling to see that NO one from Management staff is there to check all these follies. NO maintenance of Mr Laxman car kept on display. Only, the lady collecting money for tickets in an AC cabin must be satisfied with her job. The entire Management staff needs a major overhauling in order to act in an orderly manner. 3. I mean common, we as a Nation have to wake up. We have to showcase our legends in a befitting manner to show our future generations, to show the world that what we have achieved till now as a country because NATION COMES FIRST, always & everytime.Read More

There are no attendants or guides available, and even basic requests—like turning on the theatre or operating the miniatures—are ignored. The exhibits feel neglected, and the overall experience is underwhelming. It’s more of a “just okay” place, not worth the hype or the time if you’re expecting something engaging or well-managed.
