On the banks of the Krishna River is one of India's biggest stupas. The ruined Buddhist Stupa or Mahachaitya at Amaravati dates back to 200 B.C. and reveals the wealth of ancient Amaravati. Today, a vast number of relics and objects from the site of Stupa resides in the galleries of the British Museum in London, Musee Guimet in Germany, the National Museum in New Delhi, Indian Museum in Calcutta, and Government Museum in Madras.
