Rupam Islam is a prominent Indian singer-songwriter, music composer, and writer, best known as the lead vocalist of the iconic Bengali rock band Fossils. Since forming the band in 1998, he has played a key role in shaping the Bengali rock music scene, with Fossils releasing six successful albums. Beyond rock music, Rupam has made a significant mark as a playback singer in Bengali cinema, earning the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 2010 for Mahanagar @Kolkata. He has also composed music for TV shows, commercials, and released several solo projects. A respected figure in the cultural landscape, Rupam is a member of the Bangla Sangeet Academy under the Government of West Bengal.
