A singing workshop with Vipul Rikhi exploring mystic poetry, oneness, and our interconnectedness with nature.
What can the songs of mystic poets reveal about our relationship with the natural world? Led by poet, writer, and musician Vipul Rikhi, this workshop explores how India’s Bhakti and Sufi mystic poets, including Kabir, Meera, and Sultan Bahu, draw on nature to express ideas of love, belonging, and the interconnectedness of life. Through verses that evoke trees, flowers, birds, and rivers, participants consider how the natural world offers ways of understanding our connection with one another and our surroundings.
Presented alongside KNMA’s ongoing exhibition Inheritors of Earth, the workshop brings together poetry, music, and reflection. Participants engage with selected songs, explore their meanings, and learn to sing one or two compositions. Through this shared singing experience, they encounter how these centuries-old verses offer ways of thinking about coexistence, humility, and our place within the living world.
