Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury is a renowned Bengali singer and a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Asutosh College, University of Calcutta. She gained widespread recognition with the songs Tumi Asbe Bole and Jagarane Jay Bibhabaree from the film Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona (2011), and has been a prominent voice in Bengali cinema since 2007. Beyond playback singing, she leads the band Somlata & the Aces, known for their dynamic blend of Indian semi-classical, pop rock, folk fusion, Sufi, and modern film music. The band has performed across India and internationally, including in the USA, UK, Canada, UAE, and Bangladesh, earning a strong youth following through campus festivals, public concerts, and global shows.
