Storytelling with Shadows: A Chitrakathi Puppet Show and Art Workshop

"Garmi ki Chutti"- A series of children workshops in collaboration with Chetan Gangavane and MeMeraki.

Step into the enchanting world of Chitrakathi puppetry in this magical workshop designed for kids! We'll begin with a mesmerizing 25-minute Chitrakathi puppet show, where the young ones will get to experience three classic Panchatantra stories come to life through the art of traditional chitrakathi shadow puppetry. After the show, we'll dive into an informative session about the artist and their farm in Sindhudurg, as well as learn about the significance of Chitrakathi.

Next, it's time for the young artists to get creative and make their own Chitrakathi puppets! For younger kids, pre-printed puppets will be provided, while older ones will have the opportunity to make and paint their own puppets from scratch. Our master artist Chetan Gangwane will be on hand to guide the kids through the puppet-making process and teach them some painting techniques to bring their puppets to life. Throughout the workshop, the kids will be immersed in the colorful and intricate world of Chitrakathi, discovering the beauty of this ancient art form and learning about the stories it tells.

By the end of the workshop, each child will have their very own Chitrakathi puppet to take home and cherish, along with newfound knowledge and appreciation for the magic of this captivating art.
