Tamasha Republic is a bilingual (Hindi-English) experimental play about creative artists who, despite substantial success and validation, feel suffocated in today's regressive world where the rules seem to have changed. They see this change not just in the film and theatre industry, but also in the socio-cultural fabric of the country and the world at large, which has undergone a slow-churn metamorphosis over the years. The main characters - Bekaar, Kalakaar, Naukar, and Joker—struggle through their personal and professional lives while performing for the audience, revealing their own vulnerabilities in the process. The actors embody their inner chaos which spills onto their character depiction. A mix of song, satire, and sarcasm, this is a show where after a while it’s no longer clear what is staged, what is real; it becomes hard to decipher what is fact, what is fiction.
