About the Event

At Pots On The Rocks (POTR) Farm in Chinar, Krishnagiri, the age-old craft of terracotta comes alive in an immersive, hands-on experience. This is not just a workshop — it’s a journey into the roots of a tradition that has shaped rural life for centuries.

Your experience begins with a refreshing local welcome drink and an introduction to the farm, followed by immersive stories of pottery in the region and its connection to everyday life. You’ll learn about the origins of terracotta, how it has evolved over time, and what makes Krishnagiri’s pottery unique compared to commercial mass production.

Through engaging demonstrations, master potters will guide you through clay preparation, preservation, and shaping techniques — from pinching and coil methods to slab work and mallet-style pottery. You’ll also explore drying methods and the fascinating process of firing in the kiln.

Then it’s your turn to get creative — mold, shape, and decorate your own earthenware. Get treated to a traditional, farm-cooked meal prepared in terracotta pots, adding a delicious cultural touch to the day.

This experience offers a perfect blend of art, history, and the tranquillity of rural Krishnagiri — and you take home not just pottery, but lasting memories.
