Inspired by the Australian First Nation’s stories of the Seven Sisters’ journey along ancestral routes - as showcased in 'Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters', Kiran Nadar Museum of Art invites participants to the realms of shapeshifting and transformations drawing from indigenous and folk creation stories.
We will begin by immersing ourselves in the ongoing exhibition, listening to tales of origin - stories of the earth and sky, of constellations and creatures who shaped the cosmos.
From these narratives, participants will imagine and give form to new legends born from their own surroundings and inner worlds. Using embroidery as a medium of storytelling, we will gather and stitch with textures, found objects, and natural materials collected from the environment.
Together, we will create a living constellation of stories - a shared landscape woven from myth, memory, and imagination - celebrating how acts of making and seeing continue to reshape the world. Each participant will craft an embroidered artwork reflecting on transformation and shape-shifting, both within and around them.
This workshop accompanies 'Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters', the first major National Museum of Australia exhibition to tour India, presented in partnership with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi at the Humayun's Tomb World Heritage Site Museum.
