About

Some things can't wait to be said.

Words That Matter is an open mic for artists who want to explore social issues through their work. Whether it's comedy, poetry, storytelling, music, spoken word, book readings, or any other form of creative expression, this is a space to share ideas that inspire thought and meaningful conversation.

There are no restrictions on style or format. Performances can be funny, emotional, personal, political, hopeful, or thought-provoking. They don't have to fit a conventional art form—they simply need to express something that deserves to be heard.

Whether you're speaking about identity, equality, mental health, the environment, culture, community, or any issue that matters to you, the stage is yours.

This isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating a space where important ideas, untold stories, and meaningful conversations can find an audience through art.

Each performer gets 8 minutes on stage.

Performers are encouraged to bring at least one audience member to support the event. The more people who gather, the more conversations begin, and the greater the impact these words can have.

If you have something that needs to be said, this mic is for you.
