About the Event

In the parlance of Hindustani classical music, 'gharana' is the word for a particular style of rendering ‘khayals’ developed by the stalwarts of a particular style.

Often it acquires the name of the place where it is originated and developed. Each gharana develops its repertoire of bandishes apart from the bandishes created by sadarang and adarang, which are common heritage for all the khayal singers. Delhi Gharana also has created its own repertoire which includes compositions created by Mian Achpal, Ustad Mamman Khan, Ustad Chand Khan of the yesteryears and Vidushi Krishna Bisht of present times.

In this workshop, their endeavour will be to disseminate some of these bandishes to the present generation students and connoisseurs of Hindustani music.
