Follow the Yamuna through the story of Delhi — a river that has been a source of life, a sacred presence, a boundary and a witness to the city’s transformation.
Explore the river’s changing relationship with Delhi, from its historic floodplains and ecosystems to the challenges created by a rapidly expanding city. Understand how drains, waste and urbanisation have transformed the river and shaped the way Delhi interacts with it today.
But the Yamuna is more than an environmental story. Discover Yamuna Mata, the goddess and mother celebrated in Hindu mythology, and explore the stories, rituals and beliefs that have made the river sacred for centuries.
The walk concludes with a heritage Baithak at Vasudev Ghat, where you can choose to stay for the Sunday Yamuna Aarti and experience the river through light, music, prayer and memory.
