About the Event
This Forest walk is an expression of connecting with our roots, exploring the rich diversity of our local food, experiencing the tribal culinary delights and learning from tribal wisdom and their sustainable ways of living.
It is an effort into investing a day where each one of us can return back with something that makes our lives more fulfilling, happy or maybe just experience the magic our forests have to offer.
> Forage wild produce in the Sahyadri Forest (near Karjat) guided by the local Thakar Tribal community.
> Experience 10-15 wild foods like Mahua, Telpat, Bhimra, Shevdi, Gidod foraged during the walk and cooked along with the tribal family
> Interact with Mahadi Bua, Ami bai and Daulat to understand about the mysticism of the forest, wild foods and tribal lifestyle.
Location: Deopada, About 27 kms from Karjat near Mumbai (Accurate location will be shared 3 days before the event)
Journey Through the Day: Itinerary
8:00 AM: Reach the event location
8:00 AM - 8:45 AM: Registration & welcome tea
8:45 AM - 9:00 AM: Introduction to the walk, team and participants
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Breakfast made by our local tribal family
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Forest Walk and wild food foraging
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM: Assisting in preparing lunch, learning how to use the locallly foraged ingredients
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM: Lunch made using wild forest produce
2:30PM - 3.30 PM: Conversations around wild food, forest and the tribal lifestyle.
3:30 PM: Final Goodbyes!

What's Included:

✓ Equipment : We will lend you a stick for the forest walk, for better grip.
✓ Water - Safe Hand filtered water. We would request you to carry your own bottles of water if you would need mineral or RO water.
What Guests Need to Bring:
✓ Raincoat, Camera (with a water-proof cover), head-gear for the monsoon, mosquito-repellant spray, and sunblock (optional)
✓ A casual outfit with trekking or sports shoes is recommended. A change of dry clothes and towel

FAQ
1. Are there age restrictions for the Forest Walk?
A. The Forest Walk is open to age above 5. However, children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
2. Do the charges include transportation from and back to Mumbai?
A. No, the event charges do not cover transportation. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the event location. We recommend planning your travel in advance to ensure a timely arrival.
3. How can I get to and from the event location?
A. Detailed directions to the event location will be shared with participants after registration. Carpooling is encouraged as part of our sustainability initiatives. Also, a comfortable 1.5 hour train travel from Mumbai is possible.
4. How strenuous is the Forest Walk?
A. The Forest Walk covers a distance of 2km but lasts for about 2 hours. We recommend it for individuals who are comfortable with walking for extended periods.
5. What should I wear/bring for the Forest Walk?
A. Since it's most likely to rain we recommend comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a hat and sunscreen (if it does not rain), an umbrella or a raincoat preferable (if it rains), mosquito repellent cream and a reusable water bottle. A camera may also enhance your experience.
6. Are meals provided during the Forest Walk?
A. Yes, we provide a forest inspired breakfast and a delicious lunch featuring forest-inspired dishes. We also offer a refreshing drink during our post-lunch conversation.
7. Will there be washroom facilities available?
A. Yes, washroom facilities will be available for participants.
8. What measures are in place for safety and emergencies?
A. Our team is trained in first aid, and we have safety protocols in place for various emergency scenarios. Additionally, Daulat, our guide, has extensive knowledge of the forest and its terrain.
9. Can I bring my pet to the Forest Walk?
A. Yes, you are welcome to bring your dog to the Forest Walk.
10. What is the cancellation policy?
A. You can shift the event date up to 7 days before the event. Post that cancellation or a refund will not be entertained.
Terms & Conditions
1.Waiver of Liability: Participants agree that they are participating in the Forest Walk at their own risk and waive any claims against Monks Bouffe for personal injury, illness, or property loss or damage that may occur during the event.
2. Health and Safety Compliance: Participants confirm that they are in good health and capable of participating in the Forest Walk. They agree to follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by the guides during the event.
3. Food Allergy and Dietary Restrictions Awareness: Participants understand that during the Forest Walk, they will be involved in foraging and consuming food prepared by local tribal communities using foraged ingredients. These foods may contain allergens or may not be suitable for certain dietary restrictions. Participants are responsible for managing their dietary needs and should disclose any food allergies or dietary restrictions to Monks Bouffe prior to the event. Monks Bouffe cannot be held responsible for allergic reactions or dietary issues arising from consumption of food during the event.
4. Environmental Respect: Participants agree to respect the natural environment during the Forest Walk. This includes not littering, not causing harm to the wildlife, and not removing any natural resources from the site.
5. Photography and Media Consent: Participants grant Monks Bouffe the right to use any photographs or video footage taken during the Forest Walk for promotional purposes.
6. Cancellation Policy: Participants understand the cancellation policy, which specifies the timeline and conditions under which a participant can cancel their registration and whether they are eligible for a refund.
7. Changes to the Event: Participants understand that Monks Bouffe reserves the right to make changes to the Forest Walk or cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather conditions or safety concerns.
8. Code of Conduct: Participants agree to treat all other participants, guides, and local community members with respect and abide by a code of conduct provided by Monks Bouffe.
9. Awareness and Precautions for Wildlife Interactions: Participants acknowledge that the Forest Walk involves exposure to wildlife, including but not limited to snakes. Participants are expected to exercise caution and follow the instructions provided by the guides to avoid disturbing wildlife or causing harm to themselves or others. In the event of a snake bite or other wildlife-related injury, participants should immediately notify the guides for assistance. However, Monks Bouffe cannot be held responsible for any injuries or illnesses resulting from wildlife interactions. Participants are advised to consider appropriate insurance coverage for such risks.
