This workshop will be presented by sign painting legend Painter Kafeel & Painter Shabhu. Participants will be introduced to the long history of sign painting and its rich forms within India. Painter Kafeel & Shabhu will then guide participants as they sketch their own concept, culminating in each one creating their own signboard. All materials will be provided by St+art.

Painter Kafeel, 45, is originally from Azamgarh, UttarPradesh but has lived in Delhi for almost 20 years and has been painting for even longer. Having never been to school, he moved to Delhi to become a street painter, establishing himself in labyrinth Old Delhi. He is also a part of an initiative called Handpainted Type, an initiative to preserve and promote the art of Sign Painting. He will teach the participants the traditional art of Sign Painting and help them create their own Sign Painting boards which the participants get to take home.
